PBDB Data Service 1.2 v2 > Output formats and Vocabularies > Larkin format

DESCRIPTION

This page describes the Larkin response format in detail.

SYNOPSIS

This response format is written to be compatible with the now-deprecated auxiliary API called 'Larkin', used by the frontend web service. There is probably no need for anybody to consult this documentation page, so it is minimal.

The Larkin format outputs JSON, but constructed somewhat differently from what the usual JSON output format produces. A single result produces a bare JSON object, and a multiple result produces a bare JSON list of objects. No metadata is included in either case. An error result produces a bare JSON object conveying the error message. That's about it.

The Larkin output format uses the PBDB vocabulary. That means that field names exactly correspond to database column names.
