DESCRIPTION

Almost every piece of data stored in the Paleobiology Database has an associated bibliographic reference, indicating the source from which it was originally entered. The URL paths described here provide access to these references.

SYNOPSIS

Single bibliographic reference

This operation returns information about a single bibliographic reference, selected by its identifier For example:

List of bibliographic references

This operation returns information about lists of bibliographic references, selected according to the parameters you provide For example:

Check for a matching bibliographic reference locally

This operation takes a partial set of bibliographic reference attributes and returns any matching entries from the local database. A DOI alone is often enough, but good results can be gotten from one or two authors, a publication year, and some words from the title.

Fetch reference data from known external sources

This operation takes a partial set of bibliographic reference attributes and returns matching entries from external sources such as Crossref and XDD. A DOI alone is often enough, but good results can be gotten from one or two authors, a publication year, and some words from the title.

References for fossil occurrences

This operation returns information about the references from which the selected occurrence data were entered. For example:
